![]() ![]() I also find the paintbrush tool in CNX2 very handy and easy to use to paint in (or selectively paint out) special effects - very like "dodging and burning" of old except vastly more capable and sophisticated. Generally I think CNX2 is much more powerful than many people realise. I cannot do without it.įor me, it's CNX2 and Photoshop, those two are all I need. Whilst I obviously use CS5 for the majority of my 'extraction' and composite images, etc - CNX2 is always my first choice for selective lighting.which is a function that will always improve any image. Things like "selective" D-lighting, sharpening, blur, and colour adjustments are a snap. Plus, selection masking in CNX2 is very handy too.because it works in a completely different manner to traditional PS type layers and affords a lot of flexibility to colourize, mask, or adjust ceetain regions that cannot be perfected via the regular approach. It is especially great for applying custom 'selective' lighting to any region of the frame.and is WAY BETTER than doing the same thing in CS5, or whatever. Selection U-Point technology is really fast and easy to use. The colour control points are the same as in NX1, but NX2 has 'selection' control points.which (please note) are NOT included in the Viveza I or II PS plugins. work space.there is very little difference now between the two colour settings.Īs mentioned.CNX2 has a lot more to offer than just NEF conversion.and one area of functionality that I think a lot of folks seem to overlook is the new "selection" control point features that were intro duced after CNX1. It's not an either or situation, but an intelligent use of both product sets.ĬNX2 is still the best NEF conversion out there.altho, ACR 6.3 is getting pretty darn close these days.the gap has certainly narrowed the past 12 months, or so. It's blur/sharpening filters are more sophisticated, as well as resizing of images. PhotoShop and Lightroom has it's workflow that lends itself to solving the kinds of problems that NX2 is not geared for or does not work well with - such as HDR and stacking, to name 2 of them. NX2 will do an awful lot for most images, and the U-point technology makes it extremely easy to work with. ![]() If you are looking for a single solution, there really isn't one. For those images that could use a bit more or special handling, I move them over to PS CS3 and have at it with the tools there along with additional plugins from companies like Topaz. I also use NIK ColorEFX Pro, and several other plugins to NX2 as needed. I use NX2 to set the baseline for my TIFF Images, and if they are good enough at that point - then I am done. What it is not, is as complete as Photoshop. NX2 does a lot more than convert to TIFFs, and it does it very well. The limitations in your photography are in yourself, for what we see is what we are.” ![]() If you shoot different subjects it might be different for you. This is from a landscape photographers perspective. The rest of the plug-ins I really don't use, but its cheaper this way and the other plug-ins are available if needed. Silver Effects Pro - AWESOME B&W conversion software. Viveza - for awesome color and contrast adjustments. Plug-ins - NIK suite of plug-ins (just buy the entire collection as it is cheaper than just the ones you need) I am able to work my photos into presentation quality in 5 min or less for most single shots. Xrite Color passport - Creates camera profiles for your camera in ACR (limits you to adobe products) ![]() Calibrated Monitor - Mandatory with ANY editing program you choose.Ģ. ![]()
